1.  Lacy's First Solo Mountain Ride - July 4, 2007

Near a 10,000 year old Eagle Catching Pit, looking west towards Warden’s Rock. and the gap where the Red Deer River flows out of Banff National Park. Ya Ha Tinda pastures towards Warden Rock. Won first prize in a contest.
View of Warden’s Rock and Red Deer River gap from Poplar Ridge. Docile deer in the evening calm playing peek-a-boo along Poplar Ridge Trail.
Sunset glow on Lacy as we enter back into the fenced property of the Federal Government Ya Ha Tinda Ranch. Stood with Lacy by a bush that cast a shadow like a sitting dog. Placed 4th with “Me and My Shadow” in a competition.
Lacy’s first rest standing in the native grasses and wild flowers. 30 feet behind her is a 200 foot cliff dropping into Eagle Creek. Lacy looking at the 300 foot drop into Eagle Creek 10 feet behind her.
My final and favorite shot across a sparsely treed section of the Prairie Wool Grassland, looking west towards Warden’s Rock. Taken about 10 pm just before sunset, note the shadows on the south side. All other riders had long returned to their camps so I had the whole Prairie and valley to myself. Near the top of a small mountain. Third of Group of Three Photos of Lacy that placed first in “3 Photos Of One Subject” Category.
Steep hillside above Eagle Creek and its canyon that we rode along, unshod for several miles on this lush carpet of grass and wild flowers.

Upper Red Deer River half-way to the Ya Ha Tinda

Old corrals still standing as a silent tribute to the days when the Ya Ha Tinda was a working ranch 80 - 100 years ago

Another view of Eagle Lake. Can you spot the horses on the far side of the lake?
